The Funeral Portrait
Double Helix
Hold it in, we haven’t lost our skin just yet
Just take my eyes, and know what they have seen
The end of all our dreams, endlessly
Climb up out from bending rays of light
I’m trying
I’m the arrow in the hunter’s chest, who defeats the stars and leaves the rest
Bring them back to the iris, where the color turns to energy
The heart is simulated, and now apart from me
It writhes in alternation onward for eternity
Rest your conscience between my teeth
Forget how I felt and try to breath
Programmed into our very being, we’re trapped inside the double helix
