Remember The Good Things
I remember the first time I ever saw you
It was on the way to first period
You had such an adorable style
But you were so serious
And quite curious to know your name I stared
Asking, you told me your name was Ashley
But I noticed little hearts and doodles
On your notebook that said Jasmine
I said, “that’s cute my name’s Aladdin”
You started laughing
I really don’t talk too much but
It was nice to meet you “Ashley”
I hope to see you around and
Maybe have the same classes
That moment was magic
Jasmine
Dear Jasmine
That was the first line on every poem I ever wrote you
And okay I lied that wasn’t the first time I saw you
I just never had the guts to approach you
I just thought you were a very pretty girl and
Had so many people trying to get to know you
I reminisce about the night’s that I would hold you
And talk about the stars and spaceships
And different planets we would go to
We didn’t have much besides love and imagination
A simplistic romance that was above infatuation
Our first Valentine’s Day was filled with hugs and congratulations
Not even a first kiss, but of course I had the patience
And that really didn’t happen until after graduation
But that moment was so magic that I’m glad we waited
It was like the hands of heaven touched our happy faces
And said, “congratulations, this love is beyond fascination and calculations”
Jasmine
Dear Jasmine
To be honest my love
For you it never died
I see sunflowers in your
Radiant skin and yellow eyes
Sunsets and vanilla skies
Picture perfect beauty
But flowers don’t grow
To be televised
You are heaven sent
I swear to God, I never lied
Even on my darkest days
Your smile is like an
Affirmation of better times
Sunsets and vanilla skies
I see sunflowers in your
Brown skin and mellow eyes
