Loving
A Mirror for Two Voices
You're standing in the mirror
I’m watching you get dressed
Your voice is soft and certain
As you fumble with the buttons on your chest

And as the rain falls
What’s outside comes in
The space between us no longer dividing
Would I waste your time
If I gave you mine?

You're laying on the bed, eyes upon me
I can hear your voice through the mirror, speaking wordlessly
And as the record slows, silence surrounding
I can hear the room shift like a door in time opening

And I wonder to myself
What will come next?

Walking in evening streets
Thoughts thin like air
Stuck in this record of time
Like a conversation going nowhere
