JESUS IS KING Review
Okay, so for the past year I had been hearing rumors about Kanye West making a Gospel album and becoming a Christian..

At first I really didn't know what to make of it, so I decided to listen to the songs that had been leaked, and I really liked what I heard.

So when I heard JESUS IS KING was coming out, I was super excited about it, and when the first predicted release date came and went without JESUS IS KING I was really disappointed, and I wasn't sure if it was gonna even come out.

But then Ye tweets on Twitter that the final release date was October 25, 2019, and it actually came out on that day, I knew that I could believe what Kanye was saying.

I listened to JESUS IS KING about 10 times when it first came out, and I immediately fell in love with it, it was so honest, passionate, beautiful, and even though not very complete in some places, it was a work of art, and showed a man who had honestly been changed.

My first thoughts were this is dope, but too short, but after listening to it some more, and thinking on it, I realized that Ye released it this way on purpose.

Like Christian rapper nobigdyl. said on Twitter, Kanye can have any mix he wants, and if he chooses to have a mix that doesn't feel complete, then it's for a reason.

So to get down to the heart of the matter, I'd give this album an 8/10, I think it's one of the better albums of 2019, I haven't heard very many great albums in 2019, and this one is special for me, and also for Kanye.

Going from being an extremely popular Mainstream rapper to releasing a straight-up Gospel album, is not only worthy of congratulating, but it's also worthy of congratulating Kanye for doing a really good job.

Now I'm gonna be honest here and say that yes, there are some lines most notably on "Closed On Sunday" that are corny and goofy, but honestly that's just who Kanye is, if Ye didn't do/add something goofy onto his albums, I think a lot of people would be disappointed.

And I'm not saying all this, just because it's a Gospel album or because I'm a Christian, or even because it's Kanye West, I'm saying all of this because Imo it's true.

Approaching this album as either a Christian or a non-Christian, you're gonna come back with a solid album despite it's flaws.

And I think people are gonna love it not only for the fact that it's Kanye West, and that it's a Gospel album, but also for every flaw and rushed sound, because if I'm being honest that's what helps make an album stick out even more.

Let's be honest there's not very many artists as big as or as versatile as Kanye West, even if you don't agree with me, it's still a fact that Ye is one of the biggest artists there is, and for me personally, for Ye to totally switch and release a Gospel album is worthy of all of my respect.

I've got my favorite songs, and there's a couple of songs that I didn't like as much as the others, my favorites are, "God Is", "Selah", Follow God", "Hands On", "Use This Gospel", "Jesus Is Lord", "Everything We Need", and "On God".

I honestly didn't like how "Every Hour" is just straight-up a Choir singing and no Ye rapping, I feel that it would of been better suited for a Interlude or an outro, just like The Honorable Minster BBG said.

And there's some corny/cringe worthy lines on "Closed On Sunday", but it's overall a good song, and I honestly think it wouldn't stick out as much if it wasn't for the corny/cringe worthy/goofy lines.

And I also didn't care too much for Ant Clemmons' singing on "Water".
The Saxophone solo by Kenny G. on "Use This Gospel" is phenomenal and helps balance the song out, as well as making it stick out a little more than the others.

And then there's the Brother duo Clipse on "Use This Gospel" and let me just say that they killed it!, they also served to make "Use This Gospel" a stand-out track.

But without a doubt "God Is" is my absolute favorite song, Kanye's raspy vocals serve to make this song even more beautiful and special than all of the other songs.

And to reflect on the homie Izeezus' review of JESUS IS KING, I don't feel that the Overt Christianess messed up the album, and also saying that Kanye could perhaps make CHH cool, and that he's setting up the future for CHH is just not acceptable.

There are plenty of CHH artists out there who are extremely talented and making a name for themselves, but Kanye releasing a Gospel album is indeed a major score for the Christian Music industry, because not only can Kanye fans play this album out loud and not worry about what he's gonna say and who hears it, but it's also gonna introduce Kanye fans to Gospel music and most importantly a brand new and changed version of Kanye West.

This is my own personal review of JESUS IS KING, and I don't expect everyone to agree with what I said about the album, but I do hope that you respect my review of this album and hopefully it matches in some ways to your own personal review of JESUS IS KING.
To GOD be the glory forever and ever, and JESUS IS KING (pun intended).
Sincerely, BenRodz.
