Once Upon a Rhyme

DT

It begun in the late mid 90’s, when a king was born

The journey's been way back before thy kingdom come

During the times of 2pac's freedom songs

Nas’s Illmatic was already on air

Momma gave birth to me and the fam was prepared

Dad's hand on the rear, good drive so we were never scared

Took my first steps as a toddler with my leather pets

Grew up fast, baby class introduced me to nursery rhymes

All the times, I memorized a lot of cunny lines

Like twinkle twinkle little star, Ma inspired me and my Mummy's fine

My morning shine, helped me to wipe the dishes before I grew

22 months later, I became a big bro, not a longer the only child cus I had a brother too

The responsibility of been a model inspired me soon

It was tasking though, but I had no clue

That it was gonna keep coming, so what could I do?

Kept growing up, my Uncle had a lot of Hip-hop tapes

50Cents, Big Pun, Jay-Z and every week he brings more tapes

Not for my sake, but when he's out I have a sneak listen

As a young lad, Ether and Takeover were the strict disses

Learnt that you could be very expressive on sick beatings

But with did I know? I was carried away as I moved with the flow

By the end of primary school, I was already exposed

Coupled with the environment that I grew up in

But never graduated from going to school with mama's cool muffin

Was too lucky, in highschool I met fellows with same passion

You know what happens to like minds? Like magnet - the attraction

Instead of skinny jeans and tights shirts, baggy stuffs were our fashion

Mimicking HipHop music videos, the slangs, gang signs and all the actions

We want the mansion, SS1 had the first studio experience about love and making it

It was like my mouth was in the loo - I was saying shits

Already had a couple of baby Sis, so I was careful in the wordings

Hitting the booth became a habit as I got used to recording

Couple of singles came out, dad didn't like I had demons in boarding

The flows were flooding, 20 years after I was born I dropped my debut project

Dark tape, proved that I had taste and communicated my progress

Oh yes, no be today lyricism kept me away from on top a crime

These bars took me way back, so once upon a rhyme
