June’s Song Introduction (Bear’s Sonic Journals: Live At The Carousel Ballroom, April 24 1968)
[Spoken Word]
Thank you, he's-he's still swallering so I'll take just a minute to do a little something for you, uh, if some of you people came in late tonight I'm sorry that my mother, Maybelle Carter, and my sister Taylor and Aneeda aren't with us, there was a miss understanding someway and some people got the impression that they were supposed to be here, but they weren't really supposed to be here, so thеy're not, is- is why they're not hеre, and anyway the songs that I've sung down through the years lots of times have been the songs of the old original Carter family, and in the past that's- well thank you very much for remembering, I'd like to do just a short melody of some of the songs that the Carter family did back in the 20's and the 30's, these were the songs that came from the south-western corner of the state of Virginia where we were born and raised, and sung by my mother, Maybelle Carter, my uncle A.P., and my Sarah, there was about 300 in all, but these are just a few of my favorites and maybe some place you heard some of them and maybe you never heard any of them and I couldn't care less, I'm gonna sing them all in a minute
I sung a little of this, well, I sung it all the first show, I'll sing a bit of it, and then I'll go to some of the others if they did, and, we'll see what happens from there
