Night Beats
Hell In Texas
In hell were told the devils chained
Never did he groan
A thousand years he there remained
But sought a hell his own

Torment he would the souls of men
He asked the lord a hand
Being chained in a prison pen
What's left upon this land

He lengthened the horns of the Texas steers
Put an addition to the rabbits hears
Put a little devil in the bronco steed
And poisoned the feet of the centipede

Oh hell in Texas

The devil went to take a look
See what he had sewn
He damned the seeds and cursed the soil
Made the great unknown

A trade was made and he returned
Shook his golden hand
The Devil flew made his way down south
To the Rio Grande

Thorns he put on all the trees
Mixed the sands with all the fleas
Tarantula along the roads
Thorns on cactus and horns on toads

Oh hell in Texas

Where UFOs and vultures fly
Spectres in the night
Images the devil sent
To trick the lonely mind

It's the land that I call home
Born in Dallas Way
From the east she did rise
Mother's youngest son
The rattlesnake bites and the scorpion stings
Takes delights with his buzzing wings
The sand and flies will find a way
To follow you throughout the day

Oh hell in Texas
