Brian David Gilbert
Echoes of Wednesday
[Barista at law]:
Where were on the morning of January 3rd?

[Mr Todd]:
Delivering the beans is what I do

[Barista at law]:
You tried to get my number from my boss, that's what I heard

[Mr Todd]:
If we're out of dark roast, I'd like to get in touch with you
When you make my lattes, your foam's a work of art

[Barista at law]:
If the order is for here, it just comes with

[Mr Todd]:
But when you wrote my name on the cup, you put a heart

[Barista at law]:
I plead the fifth

[In unison]:
It's hard to build a case when we just meet once a week
My life revolves so much around this day
It's so disjointed, our court-appointed meetings feel so bleak
The jury's out on if we'll be okay
[Enter - Zuko the cat's background meowing]

[Barista at law]:
What's the purpose of your visit under penalty of perjury

[Mr Todd]:
It's mostly for my job, but also for you

[Barista at law]:
Mr. Cory, could you please read that back to me?

[Mr Cory]
Uh, Miss, that was uh, what's the purpose of your visit under penalty of perjury, Mr Todd: It's mostly for my job, but also for you

[Mr Todd]:
You know, you don't need to subpoena me every time you want to me

[Barista at law]:
I'm trying to practice law to good affect

[Mr Todd]:
How about we compare case notes at the bar just down the street?

[Barista at law]:
To that proposition, I don't object
[In unison]:
It's hard to build a case when we just meet once a week
My life revolves so much around this day
It's so disjointed, our court-appointed meetings feel so bleak
The jury's in, I think we'll be okay
