Jack Van Cleaf
Mazes
In the morning, with an audience of trees
In the morning, when the cicadas start to sing
And she shines, gently upon me
And this place, I, I don't need to be king
I am mesmerised, by the birds and the butterflies
Gotta land on my hand, give me reason to stand
Take it as much as you can

And it's strange
How we keep on making mazes
That we just can't make our way through
And it's strange
How we seem to think we're so cool
And look down on those below you
When next year
We'll all just think we were such fools
And the year after that too
But this place
I wouldn't for another
All we need is a little love
And if nature is our lover
Then maybe we can love each other

Ohhh you say
Put the dog down if it isn't tamed
But ooh you make
Don't we all make mistakes
I know I do anyway
And the adults say they know
But their elders say they don't
So to the trees I will go
Only the trees really know
And it's strange
How we keep on making mazes
That we just can't make our way through
And it's strange
How we seem to think we're so cool
And look down on those below you
When next year
We'll all just think we were such fools
And the year after that too
But this place
I wouldn't for another
All we need is a little love
And if nature is our lover
Then maybe we can love each other
