Let Me Go
Let me go
I mean that gently
Aim to forgive me

Sell my clothes
Keep the pictures
Don’t forget me

One last flight
But I won’t pack a bag
I’m not coming back this way

A lifetime now
Is just a simple blink
If you’re standing far away

Or you have eyes to filter
And hide your guilt
A thought that was once unthinkable
Can’t be killed

Eventual hand
Come on down and grab me
I’m leaving early

On my command
Most try to beat you back
I see you as my friend
Things break down
You can try to fix them
Others should be thrown away

No use now
Let’s take some pictures
Before I move away

Hold me close
It’ll hold you over
‘Til you get over it

I was a flower in the winter
That did not believe in spring
That there could be second chances
For even the most rotten things

Let the flowers use my body
Let the air reclaim my breath
When I really thought that nothing
Was the thing that would be best

Then I was reminded
Or I thought of it myself
That I too was a flower
I just needed a little help
I was poisoned by the hand
When at my birth the cards were dealt
But there’s not a person beyond saving
If they decide to save themself

Good news friends
I’m not going anywhere
You can put your words away

Keep the film
We’ll take some other ones
On some future days

You can leave the red door closed
I’ll shut some other ones
This isn’t over yet

On and on that story goes
What else is there to write about
When you are what sought your death

Let me take a moment now
Catch my breath, turn around

See how far I’ve really come
I can barely even see where I started from
Let me go now, let me stay
And I won’t stand in my own way

That’s a thing worth celebrating
To myself
Congratulations
Congratulations
Congratulations
Congratulations

Congratulations
Congratulations
Congratulations
Congratulations
