Every Bit o’ Litter Hurts
(from Sesame Street)
This is how it goes
Sometimes somebody throws
Some paper where it doesn't belong
Or maybe there's a stash
Of cans and junk and trash
Someplace where droppin' litter is wrong
It's good for me and you
To put our trash into
A basket or a can or bin
Just think what it would mean
If people never cleaned
The pile of litter we'd be in
Every bit o' litter hurts, oh, yeah, yeah
Every piece of paper counts, uh-huh
Every soda can, bottle cap
Newspaper, candy wrap
Every bit o' litter hurts
Okay, picture this:
You're walkin' with your sis
And eatin' popsicles for a treat
Your sister's finished quick
And almost drops her stick
And throws her wrapper onto the street
Can't toss 'em on the ground
But there's no place around
Where people can throw trash away
You keep it in your hand
Until you find a can
And then you turn to sis and say
Every bit o' litter hurts, oh, yeah, yeah
Every piece of paper counts, uh-huh
Every soda can, bottle cap
Newspaper, candy wrap
Every bit o' litter hurts
Every bit o' litter hurts, oh, yeah, yeah
Every piece of paper counts, uh-huh
Every soda can, bottle cap
Newspaper, candy wrap
Every bit o' litter hurts
