Simon and Mary
[Verse 1]
Simon was a boy of just eighteen
He met Mary by the bar one Sunday eve
He said to her, "It's nice to meet
My name's Simon, could I treat you to a drink?"
She said to him, "You sure are sweet
But I think you might be just too young for me"
Mary had brown curls and pearly teeth
Simon never gave up quite so easily
[Chorus]
He said, "Ma'am I know I may not be that old
But I know a woman when I see one"
She said, "Simon, so show me you're a man
Take my hand, let's see if you can dance"
And so they danced
[Verse 2]
Two hours later they were both out on the street
The bartender took Simon's fake ID
And if I told you, would you believe
Mary came out with him even though she's twenty-three
Oh, Simon told her, "You don't have to leave for me
Go back inside the bar, enjoy your party"
She said, "Simon, darling, you swept me off my feet
I've never seen a man move like your body to that beat"
[Chorus]
He said, "Ma'am I know I may not be that old
But I know a woman when I see one"
She said, "Simon, so show me you're a man
Take my hand, let's see if you can dance"
And so they danced again
[Bridge]
So Simon took her home and just like Johnny Flynn
Mary said to him, "I'll be the best I've been"
He walked her to the porch and before she went in
He kissed her on the lips and grinned the biggest grin
[Chorus]
He said, "Ma'am I know I may not be that old
But I know a woman when I see one"
She said, "Simon, so show me you're a man
Take my hand, let's see if you can dance"
And so they danced again
