[WIZARD24: Epilogue]

Approximately one month later…

“Bryan?  Can you go get the mail?”

Your  wish is my command, I thought as I contemplated what I was doing with my life. Ever since my friend and neighbor Shane had vanished, I had been increasingly lonely, but there was no time to think about that. I had to get the mail. I put on my orange Crocs and wandered down the stairs and out the door. Once I had retrieved the mail, I shut the mailbox door and went back inside. Depositing it on the kitchen table, I turned to go back into my room. “Get this off the kitchen table!” my mother said, angrily, and yet, at the same time, lovingly. I yawned, then sighed, then slowly turned around, went back into the kitchen, got the mail, and tossed it onto the coffee table in the living room. My mom now started griping at me again. Where I had put the mail was no longer a problem, it was my attitude that was the issue or something like that. She then came over to open and read the mail. One particular envelope excited her, so I asked what it was. “It’s a save the date,” she said, and I immediately knew who it was for. As I had said, my friend Shane had lived next door to us, with his younger brother and his mother. His mom had started dating someone, and I figured that was who it was for. “You are cordially invited to the marriage of Fred Benson and Amy Stephens on December 18, 2014…” Bingo!
