Kendrick's Encompassing Rhyme Schemes
Not since Hieroglyphics, Souls of Mischief, etc., have we seen emceeing from Cali put back on a display to where it is drawing as much Mainstream appeal in direct proportion to the skill, talent, music, put into the style that renders it "Not able to chart or sell". Right now, Kendrick has revitalized West Coast Rap in a way where the pinnacle as yet to be capped, or surpassed. Every emcee from this region, has no excuse to not take their art seriously, with how he is leading the way
Lamar has already previous critically acclaimed projects before becoming humongous as an artist: Overly Dedicated, Sect. 80, etc. and To Pimp A Butterfly (2015) is said as his best work right now. As far as "Rap artist defining albums" go, obviously his magnum opus is still "Good Kid, M.a.a.d. City", from 2012. From this massively dense tracklist, there are far many prime examples to select. But, the title tracks "Good Kid/M.a.a.d. City" have to be the official mark of his style he has kept nowadays to present day projects like "Untitled"
