Flycatcher
No Such Thing as Ghosts
[Chorus 1]
I got this spider in my house
And I let it live
Neither out of doubt
Or some urge to forgive
I just wanted to see how it would go
Let it spin its web like somehow it knows
[Verse 1]
Then one day kind of quick it kills a ladybug
So of course, I snap a pic can’t believe my luck
The flash is on and straight into kaleidoscopic eyes
What must I be telling you as your victim dies?
[Chorus 2]
Spider in my house killing for a prize
Murder then reward predatory mind
Can I condition you with my flashing light?
Like with dogs and bells saliva Russian guy
[Verse 2]
Much to my surprise the spider did not learn to spell
But instead it pried the ladybug’s guts from the shell
So, I took another pic and what did I find?
The matte black bug inside had taken on a special shine
A magical new color with the cleanliness of chrome
The poppy tint of springtime and the friendly hues of home
And only for a second in the spotlight of my phone the pink ecstatic luster of a pent-up pheromone
[Chorus 3]
I got this spider in my house speaking through these deaths
That’s your medium
Other bugs last breaths
The spider spoke to me through its lethal art
Spoke to higher beings just by being smart
