9th Wonder
Precious Lord
They left his body in the street
He was leaking
A car screeched
Everybody’s nerves peaking
His cousin came crying
He couldn’t believe it
A lifeless body in his arms
He was screaming
The Law came after he trooped to this house
With blood on his sneakers
Repeated the incomplete account

The Mama collapsed when she heard the news
A treasure she wasn’t prepared to lose
She ain’t think when he left the crib
It would’ve been her last view
With all these wolves and snakes out here
It’s like a zoo
Who would prey on her son?
Was he an animal too?
Well he had to transform to survive
You know the rules

Whispers was trickling
What happened?
Who saw it coming?
Questions loomed
And nobody knew who had done it
Somebody tweets:
“it was from a beef in the 9th grade”
When them boys who did it
Got run up on with a knife blade
They never overcame
In time their spites raised
Four years ago, but still feeling this high rage
But on that night
They ain’t peel off
And then feel the lift of a weight
Only felt more pain
Taking life a burdened mistake
Stomachs turning with hate
Hearts burning with fear
Then it becomes a cycle
And lives get caught in the gears
The same ones that lower down the coffins
This happens too often
Treat each other like orphans
Like we don’t belong to each other
Like that boy ain’t have a mother
This song cries, and so do I
Tear ducts dried out
Taste and see your healing brings
Honeycomb hideouts
Cover me and make your dwelling place
Abide in my house
Lead us to your bright star
Especially ‘cuz the light’s out

Precious Lord take our hand
Give us capacity to stand
We are tired
Give us healing in this land
Precious Lord, Precious Lord take our hand

Precious Lord take our hand
Give us capacity to stand
We are tired
Give us healing in this land
Precious Lord, Precious Lord take our hand
