Michael Aldag
Shakespeare and the Bible
There's a place, where no-one dies
There's never trouble there
And no-one cries
And every word that's spoken
Is either Shakespeare or the Bible
And every kid's a perfect Christian child
It's a town from which the sinners hide
'cause it's not a place for them
To live their filthy lives
Of desperation and starvation
'cause it's none of my concern
Five hail Mary's and no lessons learnt
Can't put blood on my hands
I've been preserved
And the virus never reached here
'cause it couldn't fight the afterwords
So there was panic on the streets there
But we just watched from a distance
Double glazed windows
Muffled the screams
So I slept fine, I slept fine
Who told you classwar was finished
It's only just beginning, and I
Don't think anyone will win this time
And who told you that we weren't sinning:
Cries in the night and we never bat an eye
Darling that's so far from fine
But you can follow the science all the way to your grave
I'm not inclined to trust a word they say
Too many have died where they lay
(Ayyy)
At the end of it all, it seems the virus does discriminate
And death's a place that I don't ever want to know
But that chlorine looks good, so inject it in my soul
If my life has been a figure, then at least I've played my part
They can't pay the bills with our applause
But anything to mend your heart
And keep my conscience clear
And the virus never reached here
'cause it couldn't fight the afterwords
So there was panic on the streets there
We just watched from the distance
Double glazed windows muffled the screams
So I didn't hear a thing
And who told you classwar was finished
It's only just begun
'cause with no house, no food, no welfare
You've got nowhere left to run
And who told you that we weren't sinning:
Cries in the night and we never bat an eye
Darling that's just not right
But follow the science all the way to your grave
I'll never trust a word they say
Too many have died where they lay
(Ayyy)
At the end of it all
It seems the virus does discriminate
