proxim: thank you, glad that i'm getting interviewed as being such a short time from being editor

masterhype: only a month?? wow, at the time of typing this, I've had it for four months now. feels like a short time tbh, but anyways, how'd you come up with your Genius name?

proxim: it was originally an old xbox gamertag but i've just taken it on to be my alias online and it's just kinda stuck with me

masterhype: oh so we have a gamer here 🧐 lol, im assuming it's short for proximity?

proxim: uh, i think so, not really sure as it was long long ago, recently found out an internet company copied my name 😠

masterhype: well if you ever become a rapper, that'd be a good bar idea lol. haha, so you mentioned you're from the UK, how is it like there?

proxim: usually always dull outside but surprisingly today it's very warm

masterhype: ahh, i'd wish i had weather like that. my climate fluctuates between hot and cold. back on the Genius topic, do you remember your first tate on this site?

proxim: i think so actually, it was for someone on a discord that made a joke song and i think i wrote "turn your speakers down, bruh - soulja boy", it's long gone though

masterhype: hmm interesting 😆, but lets go deeper about your come-up on Genius. what happened/did you do to start becoming an active user? In other words, did you dm someone to mentor you, did someone message you, etc etc and how did you learn how to do tates?
proxim: i think i became more active during the midst of 2019, specifically around Lil Tecca's release of his EP last year, fortunately i didn't message someone to be mentored, instead someone messaged me asking if i'd like to be mentored, which led on to emikael and NYLLOCK both mentoring me, which i can't thank them enough

masterhype: yeah, cool cool! have you ever considered mentoring people as of right now?

proxim: i'd like to get used to the site's formatting and stuff like that before i take on any people but would be cool to in the future

masterhype: yep, i agree you should, i bet theres some whitehats that like Tecca - making a good mentee! Overall, what would you consider your best tate or contribution to this site? 👀

proxim: i don't have a particular tate in mind but i'd like to think all the work i've been doing on Juice WRLD's unreleased discography recently is good as it gives people an insight of the large variety of tracks

masterhype: yep I see those in my feed and makes me want to do my Russ unreleased stuff lol. Which artists do you want to see collab which each other some day?? 👀

proxim: definitely would like to see a Juice x Pi'erre Bourne collab, Pi'erre is really underrated as far as his actual music as he's mostly known for producing

masterhype: yeee I only heard a few of his stuff and it's pretty fire. now have you ever considered being a music artist? do you write lyrics? 🤔

proxim: nah, as much as i like transcribing stuff on genius, i wouldn't like to be an artist, mainly because all of the stuff that comes with the lifestyle

masterhype: things like..? less likely to go out in public, the fame, the hate, etc? even if you're not an artist, you could still be a producer or etc, working in the music field. if not, whats ur career goal?

proxim: yeah, wouldn't want the massive popularity and stuff as i've seen it change a bunch of people. being a producer would be cool though, think it's cool as in like the behind the scenes stuff. i don't have a career goal as of now but would probably like to do something i enjoy like manufacturing/business stuff or something.

masterhype: honestly, agreed. management business class is very fun, so I think thats a fun choice too! very random, but do you know Wild 'N Out, if so, do you watch it??

proxim: i've seen it a few times and it's quite good, but i don't watch it regularly though
masterhype: same, but thats bc I RARELY watch cable. ight so if you had one wish that would it be? (cant wish for more hehe)

proxim: hmm, i got 2 wishes hehe, i wish i tried harder in school and wish corona was gone, getting very bored in the house lol

proxim: probably a 7 or 8, however i'm not sure how it could improve 🤔

masterhype: Would you rather ONLY listen to and write tates for Big Sean or YB NBA? (Listen to that artist ONLY & forever)

proxim: Big Sean easily without a doubt
