thousandeyes: How do you feel about this milestone?

yungdirty: It's pretty exciting for me. I was made an editor on Genius 9 years ago, so I've been on this site for quite some time. After all these years, I still feel the same excitement when a new album drops.

thousandeyes: 9 years is crazy, I can only think of a few names that have been active for so long, what are you most passionate about Genius?

yungdirty: I just love all types of music. I still get a rush whenever a new song releases and I'm able to transcribe or annotate the lyrics before anyone else, especially for my favorite artists.

thousandeyes: Speaking of annotations, you've made around 4.2k annotations – who are the artists you like to annotate the most?

yungdirty: Logic is my favorite musician right now, and he's also my favorite to annotate. He references so many things that I love; Quentin Tarantino films, Futurama, chess, video games and so much more. I'm from New Orleans, so I also love annotating Lil Wayne, Jay Electronica, & Curren$y tracks.

Aside from hip-hop, I'm also a big fan of various subgenres of rock, namely post-hardcore and pop-punk. Some of my favorite rock artists to annotate include Silverstein, Dance Gavin Dance, & Turnover.

thousandeyes: A bit of everything is cool. I feel very confident about saying this, I think you're one of the best editors of the site. Along this journey, who has inspired you to stay on the site?

yungdirty: Thanks! I always try to add as much detail and information to my annotations as possible so that Genius users can easily comprehend the lyrics.

Luckily, some of my favorite artists (like Logic, Curren$y, & Weezy) are constantly dropping new music so I always have something to edit. I've also really been enjoying adding new artists' music on Genius. It gives them pretty good exposure and I actually was able to talk to a few of them via Genius. Shout out to Blvff, Langston Bristol, GARYSHAWN, & Eclipse Records.

As for Genius users, I gotta show love to the homie JuroesAKAGeniusGod. He's who I talk to the most on here, and he's always quick with the upvotes.

thousandeyes: I love JuroesAKAGeniusGod as well, I only have good experiences with them. What would be your advice to other users who want to become editors?

yungdirty: The main thing that I'd advise users to do is include links & a photo in every annotation. I also like to provide a link to other similar lyrics if possible. Try to keep it simple, yet informative, and neat.
There's still a ton of artist & album bios that are missing. I'd suggest finding an artist that you really like and create useful descriptions for their work.
