Golvania Suite 3 - Fitzbilly’s Cave
In the fog of the forest, she came across a cave
She went in to get out of the rain
Above the wind’s howling, she thought she heard a growling
“I hope it doesn’t mind I came inside”
From the darkest corner she caught a pair of bright green eyes
And glowing teeth in less than a smile
As quickly as she thought it, she reached into her pocket
This wintergreen as a peace offering
It took the candy into its hand
He crushed it up and gulped it with a snarl
He showed his teeth again, but in a frankly friendly grin
And offered up his fur to dry her off
She inquired as to his name, he looked away in shame
And said, “I’ve been called ‘monster’ and ‘beast’
But every couple days, they send their knights and knaves
Trying to get a trophy for their feast
But, really, what I’m called is, I guess nothing at all
No one’s ever bothered to speak”
Over wintergreen, conversing in-between
They grew closer and dear
He shoved aside the mess, and Priscilla was impressed
And over fresh tea, their worries disappeared
He said his DNA impacts what others see and say
Their purpose is only kill or die
She sat quite confused by the tales of their abuse
Why not try to identify?
As the night drew on, they both let out a yawn
And slept cuddled side-by-side
In the morning when she wakes, he has a smile on his face
He’s prepared a most delicious meal
He says let’s walk about on an unexplored route
And they came to a pretty pond of teal
She said, “It seems silly, but, I mean really
You deserve a name, so it shall be
Fitzbillly.”
