So André
What makes a song timeless to you?
To me, for me
Timelessness
Has everything to do with replay ability
I like to listen to songs
And kinda digest them layer by layer
So there are often times where you and I and Aric and Aaron
Will be sitting around, singing the backgrounds to songs
So I like the backgrounds, I like the instrumentation
I like the words, I like the Melodies
And I like to ingest those things at different times
So let’s take this piece by piece, alright?
So what makes a song timeless, let’s go with lyrics first
Lyrics, I like something that I think is super clever
Something that I wish I wrote
Yeah
If ever I find, even just a line in a song that I wish I wrote
I like that song
So that’s hella songs
Okay, so does it matter to you
If you’re talking about something specific
And it doesn’t translate like 20 years later?
No cuz that’s what happens
Like the beeper
Yeah
Do you try to avoid stuff like that if you can or no?
No
You lean into it?
I don’t lean into it but I don’t try to avoid it
If there was a such thing as a two-way out right now
And I was getting hit up on it, I would talk about it
Okay
For me, it just creates another
It’s like a time capsule
Back in the day, we used to have cell phones
Now, we on the projector
Back in the day, we used to have a two-way
Now, we just speak to Siri and she calls our mom
Do you think it has to do with like
The universal theme of the song, too?
Or do you think that plays less of a role in it?
I think depending on what level you’re listening to the song
How do you listen to them?
I know you listen to them with a keen ear
I sometimes
Listen to songs like a thot
I be listening to the beat sometimes
It depends, like I was saying
I ingest it in layers, sometimes I can get past
If somebody is saying some bullshit if the beat is hard
Or if it sounds cool, unfortunately
That’s what we’re moving into
Sometimes, you don’t have to say the coolest thing
If it sounds cool
You usually can get away with it
Yeah
