The Fundaments
Take it back to the basics;
Yabba dabba doo;
Solving poetical mysteries
Call me Scooby-Doo;
I can delineate prosody
If you want me to;
Living in the sunlight
But loving the darkened slew

Give me a booth
I am so ready to set the right mood for a party;
Call me a sleuth
I'm in the business of pondering truths I embody;
I am still still couth
Even though drinking and cussing have made me look naughty;
Lost many a tooth
Nevertheless I push on because I have been trained to be hardy;
Yeah

They call me еlegant
Despite all my usеs of expletives
Benevolent
Despite all my terseness and insolence
Influential everywhere I use my pencil
Disbelief when I play instrumental
Found my way
Despite the fray;
Keep myself working on the craft, every day
And when I lay
All my children out to play
I'm expecting good reception
I'm expecting your attention

Spend all of my energy looking for synergy
Looking for anything so to bring into me
I do assimilate, I do accommodate
Never do I get too flustered to ruminate
Never do I get too haughty to luminate
Seeking to understand, not to commiserate
Spreading the truth in the future you'll venerate

Knock! Knock!
Knock! Knock!
Who's there?
The one who walks in
For all the room to stare;
A lot of people try to rip my stuffing out
But I just keep on crafting like in Build-A-Bear
Yeah, like in Build-A-Bear

I meet a lot of people
Shake a lot of hands
Write a lot of poetry
Professor understands
I'm a cobra
Hanging from the tree of my moira
Spitting out poetic venom
Better wear a toga
I'm a philosopher
Of knowledge a customer
Of wisdom a patron
For the duration
Of my existence
It's not persistence
But rather subsistence
For there's no resistance

Birthed by one
And I'll be carried by six
But I got a lot to do
Before I see River Styx

I've been searching for gold
In the stream and rainbow
And when I ever need a compass
I just use my flow

I keep my skin tough
E'en when time's rough
'Cause a brother's gotta sing
Even with a voice gruff
I show a lot of amenity
Whilst I'm in a society
Which is why I've got a lot of opportunity
Greeting me

Keep your mind open
And your heart on veracity
Even when you're swimming
In the sea of mendacity

I put a lot of energy
Into all of my poetry
I feed off the adversity
The world's my university
