The Mandela Catalogue Vol. 333 (Jude Murray Evidence Reel)
The reel begins with a glitched intro for MandelaTECH on a video intended only for "Mr. Davis" to see. Dave Lee, the company representative, was requested by Davis to recover the footage from multiple tapes sent to him by Davis. Dave was only able to recover approximately two minutes from one of the tapes. Dave says he will copy the recording onto the tape he is currently recording and sends his bеst wishes to Davis.
We are shown thе contents of the tape, beginning on a shot of a tragedy mask. The titlecard "The Might of the Subconscious" appears on-screen. The tape seems to be a program intended for children. We hear a voice say "Hello?" into our left ear, and then "Can you hear me?" into the right.
A puppet consisting of only two eyes and a mouth slides into frame, introducing theirself as "Stanley". Stanley asks us to consider him a friend as he may consider us one, as he likes having friends. He asks how many friends we have, before asking if we would like to hear a secret of his. He claims to be able to make "friends" appear out of thin air and promises to show us how as long as we consider him a friend.
Stanley goes on to describe what "makes up a good friend": what do they sound like? what do they look like? what color eyes do they have? Stanley says to remember the most important rule, "If there is a new friend that lives in your head, it is best put-" before the tape glitches out slightly. Stanley says they are just as scared as you are. When captions are on it finishes the line "it is best to-" with "it is best to manifest them instead"
Stanley asks if we have our friend in mind and says it's time to meet them. The screen fades to black as Stanley tells us to close our eyes and think hard about our new friend. Stanley asks if we can keep an even bigger secret, being that it worked. Stanley tells us that our new friend is in our house, and that it is up to us to find them.
Cut to a emergency operator phone call between Jude Murray and Thatcher Davis. Jude is panicked and scared, saying someone is inside his house and that he doesn't know how he got inside being that his doors and windows have been locked for months. Thatcher tells Jude to calm down and asks some questions. Thatcher asks if the person is threatening him or his family and Jude claims they just stare from the corner of the room, not taking anything. Jude begins breaking down, thinking his wife has been hurt and Thatcher tells him to calm down.
Thatcher asks if the man looks like anyone Jude knows, Jude says no. Thatcher becomes surprised and Jude says he has never seen anyone in his life that looks anything like him. Thatcher says that doesn't make sense and Jude becomes confused. Thatcher says he is going to send one of their officers and tells Jude to not hang up. Thatcher contacts Ruth Weaver and she says she just got a 10-15 and is about to head to the place, frustrating Thatcher somewhat. Ruth asks if Thatcher got a similar call, Thatcher believing he's dealing with a home intruder.
Davis gets back on Jude's line and asks for his address, to no response. Ruth calls back Davis and asks for back up. Davis asks where everyone else is and Ruth says the officer who was at Jude's house fled almost immediately. Davis asks the address.
Following this, the events of Intruder Alert take place as Thatcher sets up a camera in the house. The next night Thatcher ultimately decides to investigate the house with Ruth. We see from Thatcher's body camera as the two explore the house. Ave Marie is clearly heard playing as the two explore and Thatcher tells Weaver to stay behind him as they approaches the music. Thatcher discovers a static television in a bedroom, as well as a hanging body. Ruth asks if they have anyone to deal with it and Thatcher, annoyed, responds they don't because everyone left. He apologizes before calling in a 10-56 (suicide).
Thatcher's camera begins malfunctioning and as he goes to tell Ruth he finds her missing as well. A door opens and naked footsteps are heard. Thatcher calls out to them, "Hello?" and a voice responds back, in Thatcher's voice, "Hello?" Thatcher tells them to identify theirself and the same follows. Thatcher tells the individual that they are on a police investigation and that they need to identify theirself and the person begins mimicking Thatcher and Jude's voice from the earlier phone call. Thatcher shouts asking for a response and the person is heard rapidly approaching.
In a deep, breathless voice, they begin to sing Amazing Grace and after a moment a long, pale arm is seen reaching around the corner. Thatcher is heard jumping out a closed window and running. He tells Ruth to meet him at the station if she is still there.
Thatcher calls in a 10-78 (requesting backup) to any available units, including from surrounding counties in Bythorne and Werksha county. Security footage shows Amazing Grace playing in select rooms, getting closer to Thatcher's office.
From Thatcher's chest camera we see the alternate approaching him as Amazing Grace continues playing. The alternate begins to repeat bastardized mimickery of the humans they have encountered, including Ruth. The alternate floats towards Thatcher and he yells that he will shoot. A busy signal tone plays as "uh oh! bad decision, thatcher!" is displayed.
With closed captions on the names of victims appear on screen, "Cesar Torres", "Ruth Weaver", and "Mark Heathcliff". The alternate manually stretches it's mouth into a forced smile and laughs. Thatcher shoots the alternate, to no avail. Ruth's distorted face is seen and "THERES NOT ENOUGH ROOM FOR THE TWO OF LIEUTENANT" is displayed.
Thatcher's camera collects additional footage of the alternate twitching before we are shown the MCPD insignia in the same hallway as before and the same eye from the beginning of the episode.
Credits roll before we are shown a statue depicting the crucifixion of Christ. Gabriel emerges from the dark.
