Twelve Million Bricks (Reprise)
ROSE:
Twelve million bricks
Is what it took to build this satellite
Twelve million bricks
Are in the air

SAMUEL:
Twelve million bricks
And that’s all

ROSE:
No food

SAMUEL:
No water

ROSE:
Not even a chair

HERSCHEL:
While it is amazing we survived
This wasn’t meant to fly with us inside

ROSE:
There’s no craft to take us back to the surface
ANNA:
Earth has no rescue satellite waiting to be shot

SAMUEL:
While I enjoy the view, I don’t know what to do

ANNA:
Nor do I - I’m afraid the Sagitta is all we’ve got

HERSCHEL:
If this is truly the end, then everything was worth it
Even if this satellite is to be our grave

SAMUEL:
I would have packed some bread

ROSE:
I would have packed a bed

HERSCHEL:
Anna, think of all the lives that we will save

ANNA:
Twelve million bricks
On this one-way trip
Twelve million bricks
Are in the sky
Twelve million bricks
And once again I’m on a ship
Only this time it’s not a stormy sea
Without my gear
It’s on an ocean of starlight
It was meant to be, father
I knew that I would find you here
SAMUEL:
(realizing) You were on your father’s ship when
He got lost

ROSE:
That’s how you knew how you knew what
Happened

HERSCHEL:
Nova, you never told me

ANNA:
I was there
Adrift out in the blue
The sole survivor
Alone for weeks
I was nine
Clinging onto life
I had promises to keep
I tried my best, but he could not be saved
Soon my father was taken by the waves
I made a vow back then, nobody
Should ever lose their place in the world
Not like we did
Never again
Twelve million bricks
Is what it took to build this satellite
