The Sargasso Sea (Reprise)
NARRATOR
Outside the rain became a storm
And grew into a tempest
The ships were scattered, battered by the waves
On board the Antikythera
The crew was well aware
That one slip and the Sargasso would be their graves
ROSE
Morgan, have we lost control
MORGAN
Each sail is strained to the strings
ROSE
I’ve never seen a storm like this
MORGAN
It appeared out of thin air
ROSE
We are taking on water by the ton
MORGAN
I’m not sure wе can keep this up
ROSE
I think I’m getting seasick
MORGAN
Don’t you dare
ROSE, MORGAN
Evеn those who question faith
Feel the breath of spirits in their sails
On their tails
Ghosts in a graveyard of broken bows
Making it to port’s no guarantee
On the Sargasso–
(THWAP! Something vanishes in a beam of
Light.)
NARRATOR
Suddenly a sailor
On the quarter deck
Vanished in a flash of light
MORGAN
My God–
ROSE
What just happened?
(THWAP! Again!)
NARRATOR
Another sailor
Working at the stern
Then another on the starboard side
ROSE
This can’t be…
MORGAN
This is the end…!
NARRATOR
All around the ship
The prize crew disappeared
MORGAN
Rose, we have to–
(THWAP! Again!)
NARRATOR
And Morgan was taken by the light
Gone the blink of an eye
ROSE
No… M-Morgan! (searching) Anybody!
NARRATOR
Lightning crashed
The storm raged on
Rose was alone
A rolling wave
Knocked Rose off her feet
And swept her to the cargo hold
ROSE
(swept up in the wave) Help!
NARRATOR
She fell inside
The walls were steep
The water was rising, the thunder rolled
Rose never learned how to swim
She knew her chances were slim
