[Poem by Nik Maldonado with Quisol]
It's overwhelming it's dark
If I were to speak a word it would be lost
Clashing imagine the passion
Wisdom it inches
Crawls to the edge of your fingers, withers
Or perhaps you'd rather deliver this
Something crafty a kind of wisdom
Where people understand how to talk
Not so fucking nasty
From brother to brother
Mother to mother
Each interaction untangled
Not playing a part
Something so real (I wish you could see)
Straight from the heart
Combined with faith
It will eventually permeate
Penetrate like knives or needles (I wish you could see)
Or the tipped end of mosquitoes
I don't even know if I should be taking a break
So let's continue on to the next page (I wish you could see)
Most would say money is on their mind
But when you clear that
And actually think
All we're paying is time
Seek and you will truly find
That there have been teachers
That paved the way for you, me, and mine
Clean yourself up
You're beginning to rot (I wish you could see)
I've seen apples that age more gracefully than your sorry-
(I wish you could see) Stop (I wish you could see)
I'm sorry (I wish you could see)
You know I love you so much
I just wish (I wish you could see)
I wish you could see
