The Mary Wallopers
Lots of Little Soldiers
[Verse 1]
Well, me name is 'What you may call me' and my father's was as well
Of a little game he taught me and a story I will tell
We had lots of little soldiers and as sure as the day would come
We sent them into fighting at the beating of a drum
[Chorus]
And we put them all up on the table and we marched them all around
Then we battered them with our cannonballs and then watched them falling down
We'd lots of little crosses which we laid upon the dеad
We patched up all the woundеd ones and sent them off to bed
[Verse 2]
Well, I went and asked me neighbours for a nickel or a dime
To help me buy some soldiers just to while away me time
They were always very kindly in supplying me with guns
Some of them even let me play at soldiers with their sons
[Chorus]
And I put them all up on the table and Imarched them all around
And I battered them with me cannonballs and watched them falling down
We'd lots of little crosses which we laid upon the dead
We patched up all the wounded ones and sent them off to bed
[Verse 3]
Well, Whenever I went to the shop to buy me guns and tanks
The man there always smiled, patted me head and whispered, "Thanks
If it wasn't for your soldier game I don't know what I'd do
But you keep me business busy son so here's an extra few."
[Chorus]
And I put them all up on the table and I marched them all around
And I battered them with our cannonballs and watched them falling down
We'd lots of little crosses which we laid upon the dead
We patched up all the wounded ones and sent them off to bed
[Verse 4]
Oh, One day I bought some aeroplanes but this is what I found
When I sent them in the fighting, to help me soldiers on the ground
Oh, They bombed up every soldier and they proved a terrible flop
And I had to buy another hundred crosses from the shop
[Chorus]
And I put them all up on the table and I marched them all around
And I battered them with me cannonballs and watched them falling down
We'd lots of little crosses which we laid upon the dead
We patched up all the wounded ones and sent them off to bed
[Verse 5]
I would very much like if I could teach this little game of guns
To my fourteen lovely daughters and me seven handsome sons
But the man in the shop he gave me a bomb that he took down off the shelf
And it bombed up all my neighbours, all me soldiers and meself
