The Monkees
The Monkees Tribute (Mark Rober and his son)
[Intro, Billy Bob, (Looney Bird)]
Well howdy folks, ya know I’m Billy Bob, (and I’m Looney Bird)
And we’re here to dedicate the next show to Mark Rober
Yeah Mark Rober, he’s a great guy out there in Californi,
Made uh, Bills Electronics stuff and uh and mechanical stuff and he's really smart, (yeah he’s really smart), and he’s teaching a course and it called Creative Engineering uh where he teaches you how to become a creative engineer in just 30 days, (yeah sounds grеat, I wanna become a creativе engineer), me too Looney bird, so this next show is for our new friend, Mark Rober

[Pre-Chorus]
Here we come, walkin'
Down the street
We get the funniest looks from
Ev'ry one we meet
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down
We go wherever we want to
Do what we like to do
And if you were taking me boy
You’d do the same thing too
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down
We're just tryin' to be friendly
Come and watch us sing and play
We're the young generation
And we've got something to say
[Chorus, Billy Bob]
Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings
Of the bluebird as she sings
The six o'clock alarm would never ring
But it rings and I rise
Wipe the sleep out of my eyes
My shavin' razor's cold and it stings
Cheer up, sleepy Jean
Oh, what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen?

Cheer up, sleepy Jean
Oh, what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen?
Cheer up, sleepy Jean
Oh, what can it mean
To a daydream believer
And a homecoming queen?

[Verse 1, Earl, (Fatz)]
You're tryin' to make your mark in society
You're usin' all the tricks that you used on me
You're readin' all them high fashion magazines
The clothes you're wearin', girl, they're causin' public scenes
And I-I-I-I-I'm not your steppin' stone
I-I-I-I-I'm not your steppin' stone
Yeah!
Not your steppin' stone. (Ahhh, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.)
Not your steppin' stone. (Ahhh, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah.)
I said I'm not your steppin' stone!
(And now Mitzi Mozzarella with this beautiful rendition)

[Pre-Chorus, Mitzi]
I wanna be free
Like the bluebirds flying by me
Like the waves out on the blue sea
If your love has to tie me
Don't try me, say goodbye
I wanna be free
Don't say you love me, say you like me
But when I need you here beside me
Stay close enough to guide me
Confide in me, whoa-oh
I wanna hold your hand
Walk along the sand
Laughing in the sun
Always having fun
Doing all those things
Without any strings
To tie me down
I wanna be free
I wanna be free
I wanna be free

[Chorus, Beach Bear]
Take the last train to Clarksville
And I'll meet you at the station
You can be here by four thirty
'Cause I've made your reservation
Don't be slow
Oh, no, no, no
Oh, no, no, no
And I don't know if I'm ever coming home
[Verse 2, Dook]
I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else, but not for me
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed
Disappointment haunted all my dreams
Then I saw her face, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind
I'm in love
I'm a believer, I couldn't leave her if I tried

[Pre-Chorus, Billy Bob]
Walk out, girl, don't you walk out
We've got things to say
Talk out, let's have it talked out
And things will be okay
Girl, I don't want to fight
I'm a little bit wrong
You're a little bit right

[Chorus, Beach Bear]
The local rock group down the street
Is trying hard to learn this song
They serenade the weekend squire
Who just came out to mow his lawn
Another Pleasant Valley Sunday (Sunday)
Charcoal burning everywhere
Rows of houses that are all the same
And no one seems to care

[Verse 3]
Here we come, walkin'
Down the street
We get the funniest looks from
Ev'ry one we meet
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down
We go wherever we want to
Do what we like to do
And if you were taking me boy
You’d do the same thing too
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
And people say we monkey around
But we're too busy singing
To put anybody down

[Outro]
We're just tryin' to be friendly
Come and watch us sing and play
We're the young generation
And we've got something to say
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
Hey, hey, we're the Monkees
Here we come

Ah shut up
