[Intro]
This is a song that I wrote about a trip down to Florida one time
I went down, I went down there with my supposed best friend and girlfrend, alright
So we had this Delta 88 that we were driving down for some woman who lived in Fort Lauderdale
And by the time we got to North Carolina, my best friend and my girlfriend we in the backseat of the car making out
Now, at the time, I was into uh, the collective non-existence of love
And uh, and I just said, "Well, that's great then, right?"
And, I, I thought I could be strong
But no ladies and gentlemen, I couldn't handle it, I started freaking out
And so, we got down to Florida and there was one night I was watching them screw on the beach
And that was okay, you know, that wasn't so bad
Then we went back to my mother's trailer home and they were sort of covered in tar from the beach
You know, our beaches in North America, I guess, you don't out here, but anyways
Haha, so I get home, and so, they go into the shower, right
And they start screwing in the shower
The next day, the next day, I went into the shower and there's like tar and feet stains and everything all over the place in the shower
And I had to clean it all up there with my tears and my sixpack, ladies and gentlemen
[Verse 1]
And I remember Florida
The land of endless malls
Images of Elvis flicks
Convertibles and blondes
And I remember Nat King Cole
Singing a song about the rain
Yeah, I'm feeling blue again
Oh yeah, I'm feeling blue again
[Verse 2]
And I remember drinking
In those air-conditioned bars
Putting all my quarters in a juke-box
With big silver stars
And I remember crying
And I remember Nat King Cole
Singing a song about the rain
Yeah, I'm feeling blue again
Yeah, I'm feeling blue again
Everybody now
[Chorus]
And it was just like a vacation
And I'm sure we had us some fun
It was just like a vacation
And I swear we even sat out in the sun
Make us cry, James
[Instrumental Break]
[Verse 3]
You see my, my mother owned a trailer home
On west Broward past A1A
And to beat the north wind
We took a spin
To that tin can by the sea (Tell us a story)
Well I thought she was mine
But she was just passing time
She even passed town out of my car
And left me with Nat King Cole
And the silver stars
Oh, Nat King Cole and the silver stars
[Chorus]
And it was just like a vacation
And I'm sure we had us some fun
It was just like a vacation (Just like a vacation)
And I sure we had us some fun (We had some kind of fun)
It was just like a vacation (Come on, people, we'll always be people)
And I swear we even sat out
Yeah, I swear we even sat out
Yeah, I swear, swear we even sat out in the sun
In the sun
In the sun
In the sun
[Outro]
