Beans On Toast
Another Year
We celebrate your birthday with pictures from your past
Of you living your younger years as if they were your last
And don't you look different, so much has changed
But underneath it all I'd like to think you're still the same
And I wanna sing your praises, raise a toast
But as you're blowing out the candles you look like you' ve seen a ghost
And there's no need for you to say it, I can see it in your eyes
You can't believe another year has passed you by
Another sunset on the horizon
Liking waking up from a dream that you've forgotten
Another story to be told of how you watched it all unfold
And disappear, another year
I hold my daughter tightly, I hold her high
She's completely flabbergasted by the neverending sky
And the more she learns about it, the more that she will see
The whole world is held together by endless mystery
She's only had one birthday, that day that she was born
And it's my responsibility that she sees many more
And that puts things in perspective, it puts everything in place
And I know now more than ever there's not a second left to waste
And every sunrise on the horizon
Is a cause for a celebration
Another story to be told, another beauty to behold
Hold it dear, another year
