Absalom
[FRANCESCO]
There's a tale that I once was told
Harking back to days of old
And the wise man I heard it from
Called it "The Story of David and Absalom"
Over the years, I've remembered it some
And I recall how I laughed at it then
Just a tale of two men
Way back when

The father's dreams were so grand to see
Thought they'd last eternally
But they crumbled and turned to sand
Absalom knew that his father could not rule the land
Fathers don't dream, but their sons undеrstand
Fathers can't see how fast children will run
Till a father's surpassеd by his son

For a while his dreams were mine
In his shadow, I learned to shine
I was grateful, and I loved him so
But, as time went by, I came to know
How small his dreams
How far I'd go

We would stroll in the fields at night
Joke and drink by candlelight
But the ending was bound to come
For the father who loved Absalom
