Henry Gross
Renegotiate
Lord do you feel me when I'm tossing late at night
There are things I'd like to say but I never know if the time is right
I've been waiting for a moments rest so long overdue
I believe it's time we had a talk, just me and you

I know you've got a plan with an excellent design
And God knows I know you know, I've been working overtime
And I don't mean to criticize or in any way malign
Something so beautiful and certainly divine, but

I'd like to renegotiate the deal I have with you
There must be something easier that you could have me do
I've been searching for a loophole but the contract is airtight
And I am laid so very low I cannot sleep at night
So I'd like to renegotiate the deal I have in life

I'm not asking for a raise or immortality
All I'm asking from you Lord is total amnesty
And I would never bother you to ask for sympathy
Or call you on a busy day for triviality but

I'd like to renegotiate the deal I have with you
There must be something easier that you could have me do
The deal was made and the papers signed before I knew my rights
And it's fraught with ambiguities and tragic oversights
So I'd like to renegotiate the deal I have in life
