The Coral
Strange Illusions
Strange illusions that come and fade
Like April days and razor blades
Came so fast and now they're gone again

Wreath their way into my dreams
Like patterns in a tapestry
If you wait here for a while you will see

The burning towers, the steeple chase
The girl that smiles without a face
So farewell to ships upon the waves
And these strange illusions that I can't replace

The winding street down to the sea
A vision of a locust tree
If you wait here for a while you will see

A secret door, a cage of bone
An old man dresses for the show
A drifter on an endless road
Oh strange illusions, won't you take me home?

The twisted hand, the magic wheel
A goodbye note that's signed and sealed
I wish I could tell you how I feel
But these strange illusions they seem so unreal
