Lil Peep - “Awful Things” Review
- Beginning riff sounds like something by, like, Taking Back Sunday. It sounds familiar although I can’t figure out exactly what it reminds me of.
- Nothing’s edgier than sitting in the backseat of a car surrounded by stuffed animals. You heard it here first, folks.
- “Reading is my sauce” is Lil Peep’s “England is my city.”
- His voice sounds like someone else’s, idk whose but I’ll edit this if I think of it. Maybe Hair Jordan but Hair Jordan is better imo.
- I feel like this is lowkey just lyrics written by a 13-year-old over some 2000’s pop-punk instrumental.
- That glow-in-the-dark filter when they’re in the bathroom is cool.
- Why tf would you lay on the floor in a public bathroom? The strobe lights got to his head I guess.
- Seems like he’s trying to be a bit like MGK.
- How is he not screaming in pain while burning his arm off? Also why do the girls have hot dogs on their shirts?
- Why is everything but him on fire now when it started with him setting himself on fire?
Verdict: Slapping some mediocre bars on a recycled Yellowcard instrumental doesn’t make you the future of emo. Appreciate the attempt Mr. Peep, but this isn’t that emo, just reminds me of MGK with special effects.
