7 Tips for Planning a Trip with Your Friends
If you can get through a trip successful with your friends, you're probably going to be friends for the rest of your lives. Plenty of people go away thinking they are going to have a great time, only to discover they have arguments, mishaps and struggles along the way. If you're planning a trip with some of your friends, here are some key tips to help you out.
1. Communicate
If one person is doing one thing and another person is doing something different, it can become difficult to stay in the loop and understand what's going on. Things may be planned which some people know about and others don't, and they there are misunderstandings and miscommunications, which lead to even bigger problems. Communicate from the start to ensure a great trip.
2. Fit in some party time
When you're away, there will be many opportunities to party and create some amazing and funny memories. If you visit hot countries, there are usually party boats and similar events that you can get involved with. You might want to research this and budget to fit this into your schedule on one of the nights – there is usually unlimited food and drinks and plenty of people to mingle with alongside entertainment.
3. Budget together
Difficulties can arise when people have different budgets. One person might want to stay in a more expensive hotel than some of the other people cannot afford. If things don't seem to be resolving themselves, consider staying in different hotels within close proximity of each other.
4. Plan things to do
Send each other links and ideas of things to do while you're away. Remember that you're all planning the trip together, so you should be doing things that everybody enjoys. If people don't seem to like a certain idea, don't push it – just let it go.
5. Forget everything else for a while
When you do go away, put away your phones, don't worry about work commitments and family problems if you can avoid it. Use the time to bond with each other and catch up on anything that's been going on that you haven't had a chance to share with them until now.
6. Don't leave one person in charge
Particularly during the planning stages of your trip, don't just leave one people in charge of everything. Likewise, if there's one person trying to take over with the planning, don't be afraid to get involved and make some suggestions yourself or speak up. Different people have different personalities, but nobody likes being left to do everything on their own, and nobody likes feeling overpowered by other people in the group either.
7. Look for ways to save money
You'll save money in many ways when travelling as a group. For example, you can hire a car and share the driving responsibilities instead of paying for train tickets. You can get shared accommodation, which is far cheaper than single and double rooms in hotels or hostels. Consider renting an entire apartment, which should work out at a fraction of the cost of hotels.
