Brutus is the kind of person who can go against you not because he hates you but because he loves his country even more.

Brutus loves Rome as much as he loves Caesar. “Not that I loved Caesar less but that I love Rome more.” (Doc A) Caesar had gained a position of absolute authority, but Brutus thought it wasn’t the right thing to have absolute power of Rome. Brutus killed Caesar thinking it was the right thing for Rome, he believed it had fallen into corruption under the power of Caesar. (Doc A) “His (Brutus) effort and the effort of his fellow conspirators to restore the republic ironically came to naught.” Brutus had served as praetor and governing Cyprus. He would have done anything if he believed it was the cause of liberty. Brutus took his own life after all after being defeated in battle.

“I came, I saw, I conquered.” (Doc C) Caesar was a very ambitious and courageous person. Caesar was a gambler who went and overcame the odds. He was willing to stake everything he had, even his life, just to win in war. “Caesar face steadily growing opposition from the senators of Rome” (Doc C) many people thought he would put an end to the republic. A kind of conspirator succeeded in killing him in 44 B.C. Caesar was a very ambitious person he would do anything to get control over anything.

Caesar taking over Rome caused chaos among the people making him a target among the people of Rome. Brutus was also an honest person but also would do anything for the people even kill Caesar. He didn’t hate Caesar but he also didn’t want him to have absolute power so he did what he what thought was right to kill Caesar. He thought it was the best for Rome.
