Shakespeare portrays Marc Anthony personality and character in two important ways: his personal beliefs and motives on why he does what he does, and his choices in himself and Rome.

Marc Anthony beliefs about himself and the love for his country are the same. His beliefs is also compared and similar to Caesars. He is also known as “little Caesar!” "He tried take over Caesar’s role and governing his powers after his death."(CHARACTER BACKGROUND) He did any and everything he can to take over Rome, and do what he knew would make Caesar happy. He believes that Rome and everybody in it is brainwashed for believe that Brutus and Cassius are honorable men;(LINES 92-93) also not worshiping over the life of Caesar, or grieving over his death. Anthony states that "judgment now belongs to beast."(LINES 110-111) He is being sarcastic when he says that s which is a form of rhetorical technique. He wants Rome to see the importance of Caesars life and the envy Cassius and Brutus had toward Caesar. Although Caesar death took a large part on Rome; Anthony will always keep his beliefs alive through him, no matter what.

Anthony motives were good , he did what he thought was right , and knew Caesar would highly appreciate it. I personally think Anthony did everything for a reason, and all for the good of Rome. “Marc Anthony was a friend of Julius Caesar.”(CHARACTER BACKGROUND) Through everything that went on in Rome, Anthony did not change at all and stood by Caesar’s side even after he passed away. Anthony tries to take over Caesars place in Rome after his death. He tries to get the people of Rome to see through the lies of Brutus. Anthony admired and loved Caesar with a passion and he always said Caesar was a loyal friend to him. Anthony defends Caesars honor through thick and thin when he was alive and also when he died. Through it all Anthony main motive is for the people of Rome to honor all Caesar did when he was living, and he still respects his motives after his death.

Overall, Marc Anthony was a powerful, intelligent man that stayed the same through it all and never changed anything about himself.
