Creation essay
The Christian Creation Story and the Greek Creation myth both have many similar aspects, but also different in various ways. Through a variety of features such as setting, character each story is able to reflect the main theme of ‘sin’. These myths provide the beliefs and values of the cultures they are directed towards. Both stories provide an explanation on how sin or evil was introduced into the world. since the Greek’s creation reflects some aspects of Roman beliefs, it is most likely that the Christian Creation story was from the Greek Creation Myth There are many similar characteristics in the Christian creation Story and the Greek creation myth. One of their similarities includes the setting of each myth.
In the beginning of both myths, the Earth was an empty, formless, dark without anything. In the Christian creation Story, it tells that the earth was formless and empty; darkness was over the surface of the deep. In the Greek creation myth, it speaks about the world was an empty darkness, and there was only one thing that existed. Both settings creations of the world took place in an empty darkness. In the genesis creation story and the Greek creation story both have villains in it but in the genesis creation story the serpent tricked eve into eating from the tree of knowledge good and evil and the serpent said “you will not die god knows the moment you eat from this tree you’ll really see what’s going on. You’ll be just like god, knowing everything, ranging all the ways good to evil” in the Greek creation the villain is Cronus because he swallowed all his children because he wanted to keep his power. Cronus sacrificed his children life because he let the power get to him.
However, they’re also differences between the settings of these two myths. In the Christian creation story, it tells that God created the world in seven days in the Greek creation myth states that the creation of the world involved many years. The Greek and genesis creation story are different because in the genesis story eve was an innocent until the serpent tricked her unto eating from the tree of knowledge and in the Greek story, Cronus was just like that all he cared about was power but in the genesis story the serpent just wanted someone on his side he didn’t want eve and Adam to obey god he wanted someone to obey him and he did that by deceiving eve. The similarities and differences in the setting of each myth prove that each culture is connected.in each story the archetypes are used differently and each archetype creates the story.
