[Hook]
Tomorrow isn't promised
Gotta live for today
"Goes around, comes around," they say
Now, tomorrow isn't promised
Gotta live for today
"Goes around, comes around," they say
[Verse 1]
Yo, Michael was a baller, set to make it pro
The football's always with him like everywhere he goes
And every time he's on the pitch, he always steals the show
He's the make of the plays plus he's always scoring goals
And everybody's saying that he's guaranteed to make it
He's better than the rest plus he's more than dedicated
Never missed training, he's always there on time
First player on the field, last player off the line
And everytime he goes, he always sees the same faces
Same route, same time, he's caught up in the matrix
Sees the same girl with the white bag
And the same road busker with the black hat
And them charities tryin' to make him donate
He never entertains, he just goes his own way
He wants to talk to the girl but he hasn't got the balls
Kinda ironic truth say he's always got a ball
Life's going well, his team's on top of the table
Rumour has it scouts are gonna be at the final
He's always going hard to make sure that they stay up
'Cause that could be the day he gets signed to a pro club
[Verse 2]
Months down the line, halfway through the season
He's walking down the road and then his nose started bleeding
It's weird because he's never had a nose bleed
But he just wiped himself off and on his journey he proceeds
That was just the start though; things got worse
Things like the symptoms, headaches, his body was hurt
So he went to the doctor to see what's up
And the results came back, he's got cancer of the blood
Leukemia to be exact, a deadly disease
The word cancer, alone, made him fall to his knees
And if he doesn't get a donor then he won't live
But only two percent of blacks even sign up to give
And now he's waiting for a donor
A young man with cross bets, but now his life could be over
Family and friends try and still no match
The chance of him surviving looking bleak, if that
Michael's giving up man, he knows he's gonna die
He justs wishes he'd gone pro before his mother had to cry
He sees her hearts broken when he stares into her eyes
But there's nothing he can do he's just asking God, "why?"
Time went by, [?] still fadin'
People being tested, none of them have made it
Funeral arranged man, they've given up hope
Now the family can't deal man they're hearts so broke
Well one day when he least expected
Michael gets the news there's a match from somebody they've tested
Body overwhelmed with relief; he was breathless
Thought that he was dead, but somebody has blessed him
Everything was cool, Michael's life was saved
He'll be grateful to the donor for the rest of his days
[Verse 3]
He worked and recovered then went back to the game
Eventually he turned pro and he was living the dream
But he wanted to meet the person that saved him
The donor agreed, it was cool, the hospital, they arranged it
Michael, he was waiting in the room
He was nervous and excited; he wasn't sure what to do
The donor walks in, Michael's seen him before
He had to take a minute, fall back, and pick up his jaw
The guy that saved his life and kept his family sane
Was the busker with the black hat he sees everyday
Michael's never given him the time of the day
But he still gave his cells so he could life for today
Man, the kindness of a stranger, it just blows him away
Michael breaks down in tears; he don't know what to say
He hugs him and tells him, "Thank you!
The world would be a better place if more people really were like you
Words can't explain how thankful
I'm about to have a son, I hope he grows up to be like you
Anything you need, understand that I've got you
See what you did for me is turn a young man's wish true
You donated cells for a man you never knew
When my son's born know I'm gonna name him after you
Thank you"
