Our guest is [?] and Joni Mitchell is here. Joni, are you ready?
Yes
And Joni is, err, this is her second time on our program, and [?]'s first, and Joni Mitchell's now appearing at The 2nd Fret, and Joni's gonna stay around for, erm, a week, is that what it is?
Another week, yeah
Joni, do you erm, are you tuned up, or...?
Yes, I'm all set, and I've got my little list of requests, and they requested all the ones that I wanted to do anyway, haha
Yeah. Joni's gonna try and make this show next week when Gordon - we're gonna have an all Canadian night herе next Sunday evening. Gordon Lightfoot will bе in, at the main point, and Joni will still be around, you know, at The 2nd Fret, so we're gonna try to, erm, have Joni and Gordon on at the same time. Joni Mitchell, erm, our listeners will remember is the err, author, composer... What is it I guess you call yourself, are you author no? Authoress?
Author, composer
Of erm, "The Urge For Going" (I wrote this song) and "The Circle Game" and erm, what's that song about the city? "Night In The City"?
"Night In The City"
"Night In The City", and I, I've heard you've written a lot of new things that you're doing now
Oh yes
Talk to-
I've written about, I think about, ten or a dozen songs since I was here last
Wanna do some of the requested songs, or?
Let's see, what have we got here? "Night In The City", "Circle Game", "All From Both Sides Now", I'm really glad that somebody requested that because that's a very new song and I've been driving everybody crazy by playing the song three times a night
Which one?
It's called "From Both Sides Now"
Ah
And...
I haven't heard that one
I'll play that one first. It erm, I should tell people a little bit about it. I was reading a book, and I haven't finished it yet, called "Henderson The Rain King", and there's a line in it that I especially got hung up on that was about when he was flying to Africa and searching for something, he, he said that, in an age when people could look up and down at clouds, they shouldn't be afraid to die. And so I got this idea from both sides now; there are a lot of sides to everything, and erm, and this song is called "From Both Sides Now"
