156/Silence
Live to See a Darker Day
By the skin of your sharpened teeth, you waited to sink them in
The tiles made of porcelain reflected lights approaching in
The shine of flashing bulbs that spin for trial, fill the room we’re in
The creases of the seams that meet will run with the blood you drew from me
Just for the cause, without a motive
At hand, you had my heart
The other wielded a brand to leave your mark and bleed me down where I stand
It wasn’t part of the plan and I’m still working on the fall of our oneness
Gone in abundance
The pressure’s on to make a resurgence
The number taunting with a flaunt of emergence
See but disregard this signal discerning me from inclinations
I’m rapacious for the ways to burn it
Caved in with debris from the wreck
Left ridden since I slipped from the form
I’ve dispatched to decimate the warmth
I’ll retract and replicate the storm, flood, lack of assurance, and the deterring pause that’s deafening
If only miracles ever came to be a commonly intoned chant of harmony then I would knot off every juncture
Puncturing every lung that dares to sing along to callow tones
Ostentatiously the ones to always boast of prosperity
Prosthetic hearts
Bones prefabricated
Pupils dilating
All for you to entertain it
So be still
Have a seat with me and take this pill of happiness
The sky won't open up unless your smile has escaped your lips
For miles I’ve been wondering
This denial is a son of a bitch
The victors chose the narratives but I wrote something for the sick ones
