[Verse 1]
When I have to do something that requires my dedicated attention, I turn to meditation
Before I do a DJ set for thousands of people, I know I must bring my A game
If I make one mistake, I could jeopardize the flow of an entire event
I can throw the vibe just completely off
So before I start my sets, I find a quiet place where I can sit for a few moments by myself
I try to boost my focus with meditation
I try to boost my awareness
I try to incrеase my sensory percеption
So I can absorb the fullness of what I am about to experience
[Verse 2]
I am going to be walking you to a peaceful, serene guided meditation that I often use by focusing on your five senses- hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch
So that you can experience the moment
So that you can enjoy the moment
And say, "Yeah, to the moment"
[Verse 3]
When we focus on each of our senses, we heighten our awareness
This can boost our focus and concentration and boost performance
So let's begin
[Verse 4]
Close your eyes and take a deep breathe, in through your nose and out through your mouth
Feel yourself relaxing, as your breath leaves your body and then leaves again
Repeat this breathing exercise for three more breaths
(Boost focus)
[Verse 5]
Now, let's truly experience the present, every aspect of it
Let's do this by examining our senses
Now bring your attention to the sounds around you
What do you hear? Is there traffic outside? People talking, the hum of a computer, a fan overhead, birds chirping
All of sounds are important because they are part of the reality around us
Let them wash over you without judging them or getting caught up in them too much
[Verse 6]
Now, let's turn our attention to taste
What do you feel exactly? Maybe your mouth is dry or wet. Maybe it's what you had for lunch
Or maybe you've been waiting to eat. Hmm
If you don't taste anything, that's fine too
[Verse 7]
And now, to smell
What do you smell around you?
Maybe some cologne or perfume. Or perhaps a fragrant flower near you or some food on the table
Maybe you don't smell anything. That's okay
[Verse 8]
And now, to your vision
With your eyes closed, you don't see anything. But I'll ask you to try again
This time, imagine yourself watching yourself from the corner of the room
You have now decentered from your body and you are more aware of your presence in the room
Keep looking at yourself as you breathe in and out. In and out
[Verse 9]
Finally, to your touch and body
Bring awareness to each part of it
Feet on the floor. Arms by your sides
Shoulders....back....and then move slowly through the rest of the body until every muscle has been acknowledged
Feel each part relax more deeply
[Outro]
I hope you enjoyed this mediation by engaging your five senses
May these few moments leave you restored and rejuvenated
