Imogen Heap
Sleep (Live) [iTunes Festival: London 2007]
[Intro]
"This is the last one on the album, which means it's the last one of the gig. This is, well, this is probably my favourite song from the album. I wrote it really, really quickly. I wrote it, pretty much, in the time that I kind of... I was- I woke up and I wanna wake up, but I had to come down and do a recording, and I was actually gonna record this other song called 'Kidding' because I was thinking that that might be the last song on iMegaphone, but I came down and I kinda had this idea in my head and I was really, really sleepy and I was kinda- sung the first thing that came into my head and it was pretty much as I recorded it. And if you listen on the album, you can hear- you can hear, like, the clicking of the ADAT machine putting it into record, and the creaking of the chairs and everything. And it was recorded in this lovely house that we grew up in which has got more of a story to tell, because that's actually where I'm going to be putting my new studio - my old family house. And it's really amazing to be able to do it, but I'll tell you all about that another day. But it's very exciting. Anyway, this song is called 'Sleep' and it's about the first moment of the morning when you wake up and everything in the world is perfect. And then you wake up and it's not, obviously, but it's just that split second. It's about wanting to stay there."
[Verse 1]
How can it feel so nice?
Why does it feel so right?
I think I've been somewhere special
I want to go back there
[Chorus 1]
Sleep
I think i will
Go back to sleep
[Verse 2]
It's so cold and shivery outside my cocoon
Now i'm on my way
[Chorus 2]
Sleep
Oh, sleep
Sleep
