Headhaunter
Isles Apart
A grain of sand tumbled and reunited with the beach front
As the dune trembled, in the warm light of the peach sun
The sand cascaded, revealing the shape of someone
Who just surfaced to the island, emerging as if he’s summoned

He pushed himself up slowly and tried to cull his bearings
In front of jungle foliage, his mind chock-full of theories
He seemed more disoriented, tripped while watching sеagulls skirt swells
And every palm tree bеnt over him, like some deeply concerned pals

He recovered and explored the sandbanks, of that quaint island
Trying to ignore the waves that chimed in with their vague tidings
The horizon extinguished the sun, and he curled up to sleep
Rising at the break of dawn to awkwardly lurch to his feet
And found a bottle that washed on the beach, rubbed his eyes to see it twice

Another island, materializing on the teal tides
And soon enough he realized it was moving
And the oncoming shore held a silhouette that looked human

Where the water spray breeze always follows you
You can hear faint siren songs keep on calling you
I think the fantasy must’ve dropped a couple keys
Off the coast of every dream that we’re falling... through

Where the water spray breeze always follows you
You can hear faint siren songs keep on calling you
I think the fantasy must’ve dropped a couple keys
Off the coast of every dream that we’re falling... through

He bundled up some dry driftwood and tried to start a fire
To no avail, no advice ‘cept the wind’s input
But he still held his chin up to spy a roaring fire
On the other island’s coast where warmth withstood

He wondered if his island was the one moving and not the other way around, in a silence that he found soothing
He was lucid but he pinched himself just in case
When he saw her in the second coastal shelf’s turquoise waves

She was smiling at him from the sand bar opposite
And as the islands almost hit, the thought to jump across was obvious
But the waters looked as if their endless waves would swallow him
So all he did was hesitate
He had replayed the moment in his head a thousand times
As the days all came and went, he staggered drunk around the isle
He pushed himself up from the sand to see it glinting
A second island faintly moving in the distance
