Ah, ah. "Trainee." A word that defines who I am, but otherwise cannot be truly explained. It is a period of time that doesn’t belong anywhere, and even that does not mean I’m doing something at all, a period of transition. As a trainee, I’ve been asked the most offending questions from my relatives and friends, who asked me when I’ll come out, when I’ll debut. I couldn’t answer them. Because I didn’t know the answers either. I couldn’t know the answers. I came here with confidence and trust in myself, but what was waiting for me was a very different reality. Three years later I still try to find ways to prove that I’ll conquer the music industry if I debut, that I think it’ll work. And yet when the producer and my teachers scold me, I feel like I’ve become nothing else, like a vast desert is waiting for me when I turn my back from the blue ocean sitting in front of me. I spent my three years as a trainee with that feeling, a feeling like I’m in an hourglass. And now, my debut has finally drawn near. Even after I debut, a different ocean and a different desert will be waiting for me. But I am not a bit afraid. Because what has shaped me now are that ocean and that desert I once saw through. I will never forget what I saw. Because I am a trainee
