Nip Speaks
[Bure]
Hey man, I appreciate you taking the time out of busy schedule to come and chop it up with me. Right off the bat, you know, I’m fairly new in this thing. You know, I’ve been doing this coming up to 6 years of my life. It’s my passion, you know, I love doin’ this music shit. It’s always been healing for me. It’s been, you know, my safe haven. As somebody whose been in this game for a minute, you know, what advice would you give to somebody like me who’s, you know, starting out in this game as kinda like an infant. You know, I’ve been doing this for 6 years but I’m still an infant in this typa shit and I’m tryna work my way to the top. So, what kind of advice would you give to a young gun like me?

[Nipsey]
Man, honestly, it’s hard to just give like, you know, blanket advice, likе “Here’s what you should do”. But I’d be likе, you know, master the craft. You know what I’m sayin’? After all the strategies wear off and all the approaches, you know what I’m sayin’, get tried, everybody gon’ realize it’s about the music, you know what I’m sayin’? It’s about what level the music vibrate on.

[Bure]
So, what do you think the importance of teaching through music is? You know, a lot of us young guns like myself, we always pay attention to the stuff that you, Jay, Nas, Puff, Dre, you know whatever, Ross, you know what I mean? We always pay attention to whatever you say and whatever you guys say through the platform that you’re given because you guys laid the blueprint. You guys are the forefathers of this shit, you know. The icons, the moguls that have made your money in a certain way and you guys are the moguls and successful businessmen that you are. So what do you think the importance of teaching through that medium of music, specifically, is?

[Nipsey]
You know, I feel like that’s what you supposed to do. You know, I look at moves from the outside looking in. The message that, you know, Ross sprinkle in or when they don’t sprinkle it. Say it outright, I think that’s the most empowering message right now, you know. So, I just- again, all the writing on the album came out natural, like I want to just speak to that. We inspired by that as the next generation under that era. It’s also young kids that’s moulded by what’s being said in rap music. So, you know, it’s a line between preaching and just keeping it a thousand and being thorough. And so yeah, I was just tipping my hat to something I think is thorough.

[Bure]
Last one, Nip. Um, building a brand and building wealth through the music is something that I’ve always wondered, especially in your case. You know, again this is catered toward the young guns like me. You know, guys that are just starting in this thing. Is there like a strategic plan that you followed when you started out, like you know, you looked to somebody and tried to emulate that or did everything that you were thinking of, in terms of building the wealth, just come within the moment and then acting on like instinct or something? You know what I mean?

[Nipsey]
Man, I think that it’s a formula and then it’s also things that’s intangible. To own something is very important, to understand investment, you know, to understand living within your means or under your means, you know to understand how to make something, you know. I think that’s what’s big critical for me, is I make something. I take something from zero and I make it, which is music and that’s a very powerful tool, you be able to like come into a room and create something out of nothing. And so, that’s worked for me, but there’s people that, you know, master that part of the game but consume so fast, that’s it’s hard to even get ahead. So it’s a combination of things. I ain’t the poster boy for it, but at the end of the day, that’s the direction we walking toward, is becoming wealthy to the level that it’s not gon’ go away. And that, you know, we create a situation that, it lasts longer than us.
