[Verse 1]
Close your tired eyes, relax and then
Count from 1 to 10 and open them
All these heavy thoughts will try to weigh you down, but not this time
Way up in the air, you're finally free
And you can stay up there, right next to me
All this gravity will try to bring you down, but not this time
[Chorus]
When the sun goes down, and the lights burn out
Then it's time for you to shine
Brighter than a shooting star
So shine no matter where you are
Fill the darkest night, with a brilliant light
'Cause it's time for you to shine
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are tonight
Woah, woah, woah
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are
[Verse 2]
Gaze into my eyes when the fire starts
And fan the flame so hot, it melt our hearts
Oh, the pouring rain will try to put it out, but not this time
Let your colors burn, and brightly burst
Into a million sparks that all disperse
And illuminate a world that'll try to bring you down, but not this time
[Chorus]
When the sun goes down, and the lights burn out
Then it's time for you to shine
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are
Fill the darkest night, with a brilliant light
'Cause it's time for you to shine
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are tonight
Woah, woah, woah
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are
[Bridge]
A thousand heartbeats beat in time
It makes this dark planet come alive
So when the lights flicker out tonight
You gotta shine
[Chorus]
When the sun goes down, and the lights burn out
Then it's time for you to shine
Brighter than a shooting star
So shine no matter where you are
Fill the darkest night, with a brilliant light
'Cause it's time for you to shine
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are tonight
Woah, woah, woah
Brighter than a shooting star
Shine no matter where you are, tonight
[Outro Interview: Adam Young & Interviewer]
Thank you
So, on the new record you collaborate with everyone from, like, Mark Hoppus from Blink 182 to Carly Rae, how do those collaborations come about? Do you approach them, do they approach you? Is it like, people in offices, or...
Uh, it's kind of everything, but it was...it was, I was, I'm lucky enough to say that I was just able to ask them and they were like "Yeah let's, let's do it," I mean my manager, um, grew up with Carly Rae's manager so he kind of put us together and I sent her an email and said "Hey, would you be interested in, in being on this duet called 'Good Time'," and she said "Yeah, I'm in, you know, send me the files," and we live in an age with the internet so we didn't actually make the song in the same studio, we passed files back and forth, and the whole thing, so. And Mark, I grew up with Blink 182, you know, that's my generation, I learned playing guitar 'cause, 'cause of Blink and stuff, so, uh, he came out here, I think he lives in London, but he flew to, to New York and spent a day in the studio with my idol, you know. They say never meet your idols but Mark proved that wrong 'cause he's so gracious and down to earth, and, and, it was great, so. Little things like that, I still can't believe they, they all happened, you know?
I mean, your voices blend greatly, I mean, Carly Rae of course, you guys were great the other night on, uh, America's Got Talent, um, but you and Mark too, it's totally different styles but they just really mesh nicely on the record
Thank you
And then when you're touring now, is it gonna be, um, full band format?
Yeah, there's, what is there, five of us onstage, um, it's like, how can you play a rock show and not have big, like heavy—not heavy, but big, like loud guitars, that's kinda like a thing we do, we do live. You know, the, the record is very dance-y, electronic stuff but live, it's like, we have guitars and it's, it's to be Johnny Cash a little bit, but um... but yeah so touring is like the plan between now and Christmas, you know, it's...it's going to be a long one but, but uh, it's good to make that shift from studio mode to, to live mode, tour mode 'cause it's so different from my, my life, so I can't wait, yeah
When are you back in New York for shows?
September 11th, there you go. I just show up and they say "play" and I play
Good, good, well, well a lot of folks here want to come and see you
Yeah, well, thank you
What, what do you have uh...what's your final?
Uh, "Good Time", it's called "Good Time" and it's, it's just that
