[Verse 1]
She talked to me like she wanted me to leave
But her eyes seemed to scream that I stay
There was a slight discomfort in the air so thick you couldn’t breathe
But I had been waiting to exhale anyway
It was the last time that we’d opened this can of worms in order to believe that we’d have a tomorrow
But her infidelity was a noose that hung truth from the rafters of the cathedral
And it dangled there looking for lies to borrow
[Verse 2]
She tried to believe that she didn’t deserve the love that she was handed by me nor did I
But I just couldn’t take it away, unconditional, ’til death do us part
My mind built a wall between itself and my heart and they just couldn’t agree
One says go, one says stay
Between you and me, my sanity’s in disarray
I was a casualty of love, I splashed blood on the canvas for her
Painted pictures of flowers blooming and the stars dancing for her
“Was he worth it?” I asked [?] anger in my eyes
“Was he worth the seas of tears that we’ve cried
And the dimming of our sunshine?”
He attempted to dampen his defense mechanisms because the pain he felt he never wanted to inflict
But his internal conflict was constant
Just the thought of her and her lover made him extremely nauseous
He felt so sick
But he couldn’t walk away, no matter how many times his heart would break
No matter how often the foundation would shake
He had to stay
