Listen while I’m talking to you
See I can only do the task God caught me to do
You didn’t ask for directions so plans are falling through
In the study holding a candlestick without a clue
I can’t lose, I make moves like a rolling stone alone
But I hardly wear hats so I’m hardly home
You can barely speak so you should rarely hold a microphone
Got the nerve to critique how my sheets are sown, to each his own
So put the needle on the record, let the music play
The sun still shines behind clouds though the sky is gray
And that’s the kind of thought that keeps a smile on my face
I found a nice stride, now it’s just keeping the pace
I woke up in my right mind due to God’s grace
No time left so I left time in an odd place
Independence is indicative of initiative if you can’t wait
Diligence is bliss so good riddance to dead weight
