Heidi Blickenstaff
The Amazing Advenutres of ‘Doc’ Wilbert S. Pound
[Jeff (spoken)]
For my birthday, my friends arranged a five hour deep sea fishing excursion

[Susan (spoken)]
Sometimes five hours feels like five hours. Sometimes five hours feels like a millenium

[Hunter]
Come gather 'round children and I'll tell ye a tale
Of the crew of the Wilbert S. Pound
She was a steady old ship with the hull of a whale
As she set off on the Long Island Sound

[Hunter & Heidi]
As the boat left her port from the Conneticut Bay
The September sun rose with a passion
'Twas a clear and crisp morn and a bright Saturday
With an easterly breeze lightly lashin'

The bow raced along, she was runnin' real fast
There were blue fish and striped bass a-callin'
The men were in place with their rods set to cast
But the water began risin' and fallin'

[Hunter]
Many men held steady as they went for the catch
There were lines that were runnin' and squealin'
Despite the ship's stance they were fillin' up the hatch
Well, all except one, who was kneelin'
[Heidi]
A lass leans to her left to look upon the lone lad
He's as white as the hair on Art Carney
She reaches out to let him know that things aren't so bad
But she herself is as green
As the emerald grass that grows, in the

[Heidi & Hunter]
Hills of Killarney

Oh, dai dee dai, and a diddle-dai day, and a dai-

(Jeff and/or Susan wretch)

Oh, dai dee dai, and a diddle-dai day, and a-

(Jeff and/or Susan wretch)

[Hunter (Heidi)]
The Wilbert S. Pound was a-ridin the waves, (ahh ahh ahh ah)
Five hours she was scheduled at sea (ahhh ahh ahh ah)
But for two of her crew who had both now turned blue (ahh ahh ahh)

[Hunter & Heidi]
Five hours was eternity
[Jeff & Susan (Hunter & Heidi)]
When will this be over, (Oh, dai dee dai, and a diddle dai day)
Please, God be my friend (and dai diddle dai, dee dai)
You are allowed to take me right now, (Oh, dai diddle dai, and a diddle diddle dai)
Oh God, please make this end (and dai diddle dai, diddle dai)

[Heidi]
Then all of a sudden the recall the captain's words:

[Hunter]
"Whatever ye do, don't close your eyes"

[Heidi]
So they sat up and watched all the joyful seabirds
That were soaring around in the sky

[Hunter]
Yes, wishin' away an unfortunate day
Only makes the clock hands turn

[Hunter & Heidi]
Slower around

So when life starts to spin
Just take it all in
[all]
Like the brave crew abord the Wilbert S. Pound

[Jeff & Susan]
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahhhh ahh ahh ah
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ah ahhh
